Google is experimenting with a new, free email service called Gmail. A preview release and limited test is currently underway. Gmail features email storage for 1,000 megabytes (1 gigabyte) so that users don’t ever have to worry about deleting mail–everything you ever received or sent is archived and searchable in a discussion format. If you didn’t know it, Google’s mission is “to organize the world’s information and make it universally useful and accessible.” Is there such a thing as too much data? The fifth dimension will be digital–a parallel, electronic universe. You heard it here first.
