Black News Junkie: You do not own your iPhone

Apple fights back
against those who have circumvented its exclusive arrangement with
AT&T/Cingular by hacking the phone to work with other carriers. Since
the iPhone’s software can be updated via iTunes synchronization, once
a vulnerability is discovered it can be prevented by future updates
that also promise additional funtionality or no funtionality for
improperly hacked phones sold as unlocked. That leads us to the
concern raised in this article I found on BlackNewsJunkie; do we
really own our iPhones or are we at Apple’s mercy subject to whatever
whim suits their fancy? I remain a staunch Apple suppporter but the
reliance on premium pricing and rigid standards that restrict use or
stifle improvement is very concerning.
