One thing I like about LinkedIn is that it’s completely separate from my other social platforms and has retained its stature as a place for serious connecting while providing a perpetual view on my background and experience. It’s become increasingly more social with discussions, groups, and connection requests from recruiters who just want to use you to then reach out to your connections and use them in the same way, but overall it’s been a solid place for focused networking.I saw a recent Google Buzz share from Corvida Raven regarding the fact that Facebook may soon use an application called BranchOut to bring the full LinkedIn experience to the Facebook platform. BranchOut offers a tool that effortlessly transfers your LinkedIn profile and with the huge number of Facebook users who may begin using this tool, it won’t be soon before it dwarfs LinkedIn as the professional platform of choice. Given some of the privacy concerns surrounding Facebook and the potential blending of professional with personal that BranchOut seems destined to blur, I’m not convinced this is a good thing. I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments section.
