iPad 2: Mark Your Calendars

A thinner profile, memory and peripheral support, photo and video capability–these are just a few of the things that many of us wish had been included on the original iPad that may make their way onto the iPad 2.

I’m not surprised; that’s typically how the marketing and manufacturing folks at Apple operate so that new releases force existing owners to consider an upgrade and bring legions of new customers who think they’re hot stuff until the next new release and the chaos starts again.

Just a few more days and all will be revealed. Any bets on what I’ll do?

Apple to Announce iPad 2 Next Week

Recent case designs have been leaked that show mystery slots and port openings for new features not found on the original iPad models. Speculation as to the reasons for these mystery case openings has included SD card support, miniUSB and now Thunderbolt. Case leaks have also confirmed a thinner profile and rear-facing camera. It’s likely the iPad 2 will also have a front-facing camera for FaceTime video chat compatibility.
