The SSR has been outfitted with a new double din DVD receiver with a touch screen display, USB direct control for my iPhone and built-in Bluetooth. It takes my Bose speakers and gives them a full workout while providing me with enough features to keep me busy twiddling and tweaking until the look and sound are just right.
My phone is fully synchronized with the system as soon as I get close enough for Bluetooth to pick up. The microphone sounds pretty good with the convertible top up or down. I wish the touch screen was a little bigger but it works for me and I kind of like having the volume and tuning buttons available even though I prefer to use the remote on most occasions. The USB port charges the iPhone (or anything else) while providing access to multimedia on a flash drive and there’s also a port for an audio in cable and an SD card for pictures or movies.
This was long overdue and I’m surprised I waited this long to replace the stock radio. I’m ready for a road trip.
