Facebook: Show Me the Money

Nine hundred million members and a revenue model built on advertising–now that Facebook has gone public, it’s time to get busy and provide shareholders with a return on their investment. This means that the ads you’ve become accustomed to seeing in your newsfeed or along the sidebar are just the beginning of an advertising frenzy that may throw throw to the wind any concerns we have about privacy in favor of raising revenue. After all, as Mark Zuckerberg said before ringing the NASDAQ bell, “…our mission isn’t to be a public company. Our mission is to make the world more open and connected.” Soon, we’ll see just what that means as the race to keep the stock price high has officially begun.
